Salmon recipe

Mmm!  So I've got a beary delicious salmon recipe for you today.  I've been trying to encourage my mom to eat more fish because it's good for her (and tasty too).  I hope you like it.

For this recipe, you'll need:
  • - 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • - 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • - 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • - 1 head broccoli, florets only
  • - 4 pieces skinless salmon fillet (1 1/4 pounds total)
  • - 1 large red onion
  • - 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • - kosher salt and black pepper

Mix the soy sauce and brown sugar in a bowl like I am doing here.  Be careful that the soy sauce does not stain your fur.

Cut up the onions (they made me cry), then place the salmon and onions on a baking sheet. Drizzle with the oil and season with a little salt and pepper.

Oooh, this is coming along nicely.  I think it deserves a closer look...

Now broil until the salmon is opaque throughout, 8 to 10 minutes, spooning half the soy sauce glaze over the fish during the last 2 minutes of cooking.  Mmm...this smells good.

Cook the white rice separately in boiling water and fluff with a fork.  Steam the broccoli for a healthy side dish.

Now, the final step is to eat it!  *nom nom nom*

The full recipe is here - enjoy!

Aquarium

A few days ago, my mom got me my own aquarium!  Now this is not your ordinary aquarium.  It already had some fish inside of it, and the instructions on the package said the fish would GROW.  All I had to do was to add some water.

I took the aquarium out of the package.  This is what it looked like:

Then I filled it up to the very top with water.  Mmm... these fish look good.  I wonder if they are the edible kind.

The instructions say to give the fish a few days to GROW.  So I'll put it down right here and we'll check back on it later, okay?

Okay, welcome back!  This is day 2.  The fish have gotten bigger, can you see?  Let's wait another day to see just how big they can GROW.

And here we are at day 3!  Look at how big the fish have gotten.  Mmm...fish...

Do you have an aquarium?

Arts and crafts store

Recently my mom took me on a shopping trip to one of her favorite places - the arts and crafts store.  Hmm... so this is where she likes to spend her money.  There were so many beary interesting things.  I started to get all sorts of ideas for things to make.

Look at all these beads...

And these crayons and markers.  I've been good lately.  I think I deserve a new box of crayons, don't you?

This is a paper bear mask if you want to pretend you are a bear.  I don't think I need one.

I found more decorations for my bee magnets.

Oh this looks like a fun shelf.  Do you see the birdhouses?  Maybe I can make some bird friends this way.

Even more beads!  This is beary fun.  I like this store a lot.

I also found a rocking chair just my size!  Maybe next time my mom will get it for me.

Do you like arts and crafts?

Cloudspotting

Hello there!  Today I am going to show you how to do some cloudspotting.  Cloudspotting is something that not many bears and non-bears do nowadays.  It requires your full attention and imagination.  So please turn off your phone, tablet, or computer and go outside.  Find a nice, comfortable spot on the grass to lie down (bring a blanket or pillow if you want to be extra comfy).

Let's start off with a nice, clean canvas.  Ahh, just look at how clear and blue the sky is.  Take a deep breath and relax.  This will help you spot some interesting clouds.

Aha!  Here we have a baby cloud.  Not very impressive, you say?  Well, we're just getting started.  Remember, you have to be beary patient when cloudspotting.  Don't force it - there is nothing you can do to change it anyways - but simply let the clouds come and go.

Cloud activity is picking up, as you can see here.  Keep your eyes open and let your imagination run wild.

I have a feeling we will find something interesting soon...

Now this is beary interesting!  I see... I see...two...two bumblebees!  Do you see them?

Here's a hint...

Happy cloudspotting!

Mini golf

Today, I went mini-golfing for the first time.  It was so much fun!  First, I selected a golf ball.  There were so many colors to choose from.  I picked a red ball.

Next, I picked up a golf scorecard and a pencil to keep track of the game.

Then I carefully studied the distance to the tee.

It was a little bit challenging because they didn't make golf clubs in my size.

OOOF!  Okay, accidents do happen sometimes.  I got knocked out by a rebounding golf ball.  Don't worry, I am okay...

If your opponent is winning, sometimes you can try to block the hole like I am doing below.  I heard this move is questionable.

Golf is a leisurely game, so be sure to enjoy yourself and take plenty of rest breaks.

I got distracted by some pretty flowers along this golf course.  Pretty flowers mean bees which mean honey...

Speaking of bees, I saw this...

Okay, back to the game.  I climbed onto this pole for better leverage on my swing.

Uh-oh, someone hit their ball out of bounds...

This is the last hole - I am trying for a hole in one!

Golf is fun!  Do you like to play golf?

Heat advisory

I was walking with my mom in a hot, crowded parking lot a couple of days ago when I heard muffled cries for help.  Then I looked into a car window and saw another bear inside.

"Help...hot...hot..." he said.  He looked very uncomfortable inside the car as the windows were all rolled up.

Then I looked closer and saw that he could not unfasten his seat belt - perhaps it was stuck.  It must be so hot inside that car, I thought.  I had to get him out!

I pulled on the car door handle with all of my weight, but nothing happened.

"Hot...so hot..." I heard him say.

ERGHHHH!!  I gave the door an extra hard yank and it opened.  I felt waves of scorching heat as I scrambled inside to get him to safety.

"Phew!  Thanks for getting me out, buddy.  My name is Blue Bear."

"I'm Ajdin," I said.  We shook paws, then went for some nice cold smoothies.

Please remember that bears and non-bears should never be left in a hot car.  Keep cool this summer!

Mail from a mouse

A few days ago, my mom handed me several packages that I received in the mail.  Wow, look at all this stuff!  And it is all from the same mouse, the one and only Beanie Mouse.

The first piece of mail was a postcard from Paris.  I have never been to Paris before but hopefully I will get to go there one day.

The second item was a refrigerator magnet that I won from Beanie's Tombola giveaway.  Beary cool.

The third package, and the heaviest of them all, was a bunch of cards that I won from Beanie's Found Art raffle!  I have never won anything before so I was beary excited.  Look at all this creativity.  I will have to think of a way to get these cards "lost" in my part of the world.

Everything looks really nice on the refrigerator.  Thank you beary much Beanie!
