Halloween 2022

Hi everyone, I'm a few days late with this post, but I wanted to share my entry to Jerry and Ben's 12th Annual Halloween Contest.

I could have been a superhero... an astronaut... a firefighter... but no... I was not any of those things. My mom thought it would funny if I were an... OOMPA LOOMPA from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I am cringing a bit right now, to be honest. This is kind of embarrassing... why would I ever agree to --

Oh, chocolate? Oh that's right.

Chocolate Wonka bars do come with this gig. Ok, maybe this is a pretty good gig after all.

Thanks to Jerry and Ben for hosting this contest! And congrats to all the winners!

I'll leave you with a song from the movie...

Mosaic kit

Hey everyone, I've got my craft apron on, so that means we are crafting today!

Today I'm going to make a mosaic of a bee with this cute little kit. It has been sitting around for months and I FINALLY get to make it today.

So I'll first lay out all the materials on some newspaper and see what we've got. A mold, some glass pieces, and a bag of cement.

Next, I'll trace around the mold on the newspaper.

This is to make it easier when arranging the mosaic tiles, so now I have an idea of how I want to lay out the pieces.

And now, for the messy part... mixing the cement. I'll leave this to my mom who is mixing it with gloves. I don't want cement on my fur.

We carefully pour the cement into the mold.

Then, we arrange the tiles on the cement. (Editor's note: Multiple attempts were required for this step and it got very messy).

I think it turned out great! I'm going to let it dry overnight.

Have you made a mosaic before?

Honeybee Tree game

Hey everyone! Have you heard of this game called Honeybee Tree? Someone was giving it away, so of course I took it. I can’t wait to play it. Based on the name alone, it’s gonna be good!

The instructions are on the back.

Wow, there are a lot of pieces!

So the first step is to assemble the base which is a tree trunk. The tree trunk rotates so that it can be facing each player when it is their turn. Next, I’ll add the beehive on top.

The beehive has holes in it. I will take the stems and leaves and insert them into the hive, making sure their ends are sticking out on the other side.

See, just like this! All the leaves have been put in the beehive.

And now, for the bees! There are many bees here — oh yes, honey, mmm — and now I’m going to put them inside the hive.

The bees are inside! Now we are ready to start the game. Each player will take turns pulling out a leaf while trying not to disturb the bees inside. If the bees are disturbed, they will fall to the bottom of the tray. The player with the least number of bees wins the game.

But first, I need someone to play with.

“I’ll play with you!” said Uncle Tibbs.

“Okay, I’ll go first,” I said. I carefully pulled out a leaf. No bees came out!

“Alright, I’ll have a go,” said Uncle Tibbs. He pulled out a leaf.

BZZZZZ!!!

Some bees came out.

“Ahhh, darn. I thought I was being careful,” he said.

BZZZZ!!

“Oh whoops!” I pulled some bees out.

We took turns until there were no more leaves left.

“Alright Ajdin, I have 17 bees here. How about you?”

“I have 12 bees, Uncle Tibbs. I won!”

“Good game!”

Have you played this game before?

My 10th Bearthday!

Hey everyone, I'm so excited for today. Do you know why? Because it's...

MY 10TH BEARTHDAY!

My mom has a gift for me, from the Build-A-Bear Workshop of course!

It's a tuxedo!

I'm going to try it on right now! Excuse me as I do a little quick change...

Oh... this seems to come with pants... hmm... I guess I'll wear them for now just to see how they look...

Ta-da!

How do I look? I'm rather feeling myself in this tuxedo, 'cause when you look good, you feel good!

The name's Bear. James Bear.

Whaddya think? Do I have what it takes to be the next 007?

Let's get back to the gifts. My friend Droopy gifted me a puzzle roll-up mat. I've been working on some fun jigsaw puzzles lately so this will definitely come in handy. Thanks Droopy!

My mom also made me a cake. Here's the big reveal.

Yes, I love it! It's a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

Thanks everyone for the bearthday wishes!

Alright, some fun mail for me! I'll pass the bills and boring stuff to my mom.

First up is a postcard from Little Fox! He is visiting Alaska and sounds like he's having an amazing time! The scenery is really something, huh?

Next up is a card from Sandy. Sandy has been having a terrific summer as well with lots of adventures and trips!

And there's another piece of mail from Little Fox. It's a bearthday card! I'm really excited for my bearthday which is coming up at the end of the month... I wonder what type of presents I'll get...

Thanks for the mail everyone!

A Summer Road Trip, part 5 - Angel Oak Tree

Here we are at our very last stop on this summer road trip!

(By the way, I'm a little disappointed that it took my mom over 2 months to finish posting about this trip. *sigh*)

Anyways, this is called the Angel Oak Tree, located in Charleston, South Carolina! It is estimated to be between 400-500 years old.

The trunk and branches are massive!

Some of the branches even touch the ground, and there are wooden supports to hold them up.

This tree stands 66.5 feet tall and measures 28 feet in circumference. The shade it provides covers almost 17,000 square feet. And from tip to tip of its longest branches, it measures 187 feet.

I see some holes in the tree that would make a good hiding spot.

I can't believe how big and beautiful this tree is. I can definitely feel good energy emanating from this tree.

Let's take a look at this branch which was cut off. It was probably damaged.

Wow, what a finale to wrap up this summer road trip! I'm so glad you could join me on this trip. Stay tuned for the next trip!

Do you have any fun summer plans? Drop it in the comments!
