Colorado Springs

I am in Colorado for a few days! Some of you might remember that I was here over the summer. Well, I'm back again!

This time, I am in Colorado Springs visiting the United States Air Force Academy. Here is a picture of me on the campus - it's set right in the foothills of the mountains.

This is the Cadet Chapel on campus which houses many smaller chapels of several different religions and faiths. It is constructed of 17 spires. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovation. (Why am I not in this photo?)

Visitors are not allowed to visit the dormitory areas, but there was an example dorm room in the visitor's center. Beds must be made neatly and everything kept in tip-top shape. (Why am I also not in this photo? Need a secretary... sigh)

Also in Colorado Springs is Garden of the Gods. I visited this past summer but thought would visit again!

Look at these unique rock formations!

It's mostly red sandstone here.

While I was driving, a mule deer crossed the road. They may look like deer at first, but their tails have a black tip on the end and the tend to be a bit bigger than white-tailed deer.

This looks like something cool on the other side. Let's check it out...

This formation is called Balanced Rock, and I can see why! In this photo, looks like some people are trying to hold the rock up. Do you think a stuffie can be strong enough to do that? Maybe Uncle Tibbs can lift it.

That's beary cool, isn't it?

Colorado, part 2

Let's continue on our Colorado trip! Next, I went with my mom to Pike's Peak, which is a mountain in Colorado Springs that rises over 14,000 feet high!

Here is a Big Foot Xing sign. I didn't see him though.

We drove up the mountain and stopped many times to take photos. There is the summit in the background! We drove up to 12,000 feet and took a shuttle the rest of the way to the summit.

And here I am at the summit! 14,115 feet to be exact. I have never been up this high before (except when flying in an airplane).

It is SOOOO windy at the top here! Unghhh... I think I might fly away... AHH... somebody help me...

Oh phew, my mom is holding me here. She would be beary upset if I was blown away.

Not a bad view, eh? Though it is a little hard to breathe up here, and the snack supplies are running low, so I think we should go down.

We drove down Pike's Peak and then headed toward Aspen.

This mountain range behind me is known as the Collegiates because they are named after universities like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia.

It took us twice as long as expected to reach Aspen because we stopped to take so many pictures.

Now at this point, something terrible happened to our camera. It did not sync photos properly and the rest of the photos - particularly the ones with me in them - were deleted. (This is what happens when a stuffie is not in charge of things). It was beary upsetting, but I was able to salvage a few more photos from the trip.

Colorado!

A couple months ago (wow, I am really behind on posting) I went to Colorado with my mom. The first half of the trip was beary boring while she was at work, but I made up for it with lots of salmon and snacks from room service in a nice hotel room. But later, I got to go exploring in Denver and in the surrounding mountains!

I saw a huge blue bear looking in at the Denver Convention Center! He looks beary interested in what's going on inside.

Later, we took a drive up to Estes Park near the Rocky Mountain National Park. Behind me is Long's Peak, a mountain that is over 14,000 feet high!

Okay, here's another picture. The scenery can change quickly over here up in the mountains so it feels like a different scene every few minutes.

A couple days later, we drove down south to Colorado Springs and visited the wonderful and amazing Garden of the Gods Park. These sandstone rock formations are HUGE.

Look at how beautiful they are! It looks like I am on a different planet.

This park is very popular for rock climbing. My mom really loves rock climbing and climbed to the top of one of the formations. Here is a picture she took from the top!

Colorado part 2

The next day, I decided to make a quick visit to Red Rocks Park before it was time to go to the airport.  I got up real early and was able to watch the sunrise.

 There were some great views in this park.

 It was beary peaceful here indeed.

Then I got in the car and drove to the airport.  (I am not sure when I received my driver's license, or if I ever did, but somehow I managed to get the car back to the hotel.  Please don't tell my mom.  I might get another timeout for this.)

Colorado

As luck would have it, my mom just happened to be going on another business trip.  We got on an airplane and arrived in... Colorado!  She had to go to work but I was allowed to do some exploring by myself this time.

I found a tranquil pond nearby and looked at the mountains that were in the background.  Those are the Colorado Rockies.

I kept going down that road.  It was just me and the big blue sky.

I kept going until I saw a sign for a nature preserve.  So I decided to go in and take a look.  Maybe I would find some fellow bears there.

I saw some prairie dogs in this nature preserve.

There was a sign warning me that I was about to enter the bison area.  "Bison are wild and unpredictable animals," it said.  But I was not afraid.  I am a bear, after all.  GRRR!!

Now I was a bit tired so I went to check in at the hotel.  When I arrived at the front desk, I was offered a warm, soft, delicious chocolate chip cookie.  Apparently they do this in all of their hotels.  I can tell that I am really going to like this hotel.

I even made a new swan friend in the hotel room.  How friendly everyone is here.

I was still hungry so I ordered room service.  This is really nice treatment.  I might have to ask for this treatment when I get back home.

I was getting sleepy now so I made myself comfortable on some pillows and fell asleep.  I wonder what's in store for tomorrow...
