Photography scouting badge

Sandy recently hosted a Spring Photography Contest which myself and a few other stuffies entered.  Here is my photo submission, which won First Prize in the Urban category:

It was a beary fun contest! Today, my contest prize arrived in the mail.  I can't wait to see what it is.

Aha!  It is a photography scouting badge, how fitting.

It just so happens that I am wearing my Bear Cub Scout uniform today.  So I will bring this badge and myself straight to the local tailor for this sewing job.  I wonder if she is any good.

She took my measurements.

Then she broke out some needle and thread.

It didn't take long.

And before I knew it, I had my uniform back on.  (The service here is pretty good.)

Here is my new badge!  How does it look?

Thank you Sandy for the badge!  I wonder what my next badge will be...

Badge ceremony

After I bandaged Feathers' broken wing, I brought her to meet Uncle Tibbs.

"Well hello there!" he said.  "And who do we have here?

"I am Feathers."

"I am Uncle Tibbs.  And I assume you and Ajdin have been properly introduced?"

"I was resting on a tree branch when a large icicle came crashing down.  I fell on the ground in a tizzy and broke my wing.  Ajdin came along with his first aid kit," she said.

She hopped onto his paw so he could take a closer look.

"Hmm," Uncle Tibbs said, squinting at her wing.  "I sense that you are a strong flyer.  You will be better in no time, no time at all."

He put her on the ground gently.

"Well Ajdin, this certainly seems to qualify you for the Helping Paw badge," he said.  "And perhaps Feathers would like to present it to you."  He gave the badge a final buff and polish.  It sparkled in the sun.

Feathers cleared her throat.

"For bravery and courage in helping another creature, and for exhibiting qualities of strength and kindness, I present this Helping Paw badge to Bear Cub Scout Ajdin."

She pinned it to my uniform with her one good wing.  I stood up a little straighter.

"Wow!" I gasped.  "How does it look?"

"Speech!  Speech!" they both chimed.

I thought for a moment.

"Friends... both feathered and furry... let's have some tea... with honey!"

A helping paw

I was having trouble finding someone to help for my Helping Paw badge.  It seemed like everyone was doing just fine.

So I decided to take a nap.  I should be hiBEARnating right now anyways.  *yawn*

"Help!" a voice chirped.

Wait, what was that sound?  Did you hear something?

"Please help!" it said again.

It sounded like it was coming from over here.

It was...

...a bird!

(Hey guys, how come you didn't tell me there was a bird behind me?)

"Hello," I said.  "Do you need help?"

"Yes!" she replied.  "My wing... I think it's broken.  A bird that can't fly... oh, I am done for!"

"Don't worry," I said.  "I am Bear Cub Scout Ajdin and I can help you."  I went to get my first aid kit.

"Now, if you will just hold still, I'll have you fixed up in no time," I said.

I took out some bandages and carefully tied them around her right wing.

"There," I said, helping her sit up.  "You'll need some time to heal but it should be better soon."

"But I cannot fly south!" she said.  "It is winter here and so cold.  I will surely freeze to death."

"You can stay with my friends and I," I offered.  "You can be our guest, Miss...?"

"Feathers.  My name is Feathers.  Thank you so much Ajdin.  You are a very kind bear."

The Helping Paw badge

Today, Bear Cub Scout Leader Uncle Tibbs called an important meeting.  So I put on my cub scout uniform.

"I called this meeting today because I have some exciting news to share with you, Ajdin," he said.

I began to feel beary excited.

"There is a new Bear Cub Scout badge that you can earn.  It is called the Helping Paw badge."  He showed me what the badge looked like.  It was a badge in the shape of a bear!

"Uncle Tibbs, that is a fantastic badge!" I exclaimed.  "How do I earn it?"

"The recipient of a Helping Paw badge must show bravery and courage to help someone else.  It is not an easy badge to earn," he said.

"Uncle Tibbs, do you need help with anything?" I asked.

"Hmm... I can't say that I do, Ajdin."

"Are you SURE?" I asked again.

"I am okay right now, Ajdin, but thanks for asking."

I was eager to get this badge, so I decided to ask Ooogie if he needed help.

"Noooooooooo, thaaaaaaaaaaaanks," he answered.

Then I asked Flops if he needed help.

"I don't need help... *crunch* ....but thanks for asking...*crunch*," he said as he munched on a carrot.

I began to feel a little discouraged.  I really wanted this special badge.  Finally, I asked my mom if she needed help.

It turned out that she did not need help either.

I let out a little sigh.  How was I going to earn the Helping Paw badge if no one needed any help?
