Bird feeder, part 2

A while ago, I put together a bird feeder. Let's hang it up!

This feeder has a suction cup. Let's put it on the front door.

I'll put some crackers in it as a treat.

Now it's all set for visitors. I wonder how long it will be before our first visitor?

FIVE MINUTES LATER...

Hey, do you hear something at the door? Yes, it looks like a bird! We have our first visitor to the bird feeder.

Hey, wait a second.. actually, this bird looks beary familiar... could it be?

I went outside to take a closer look. Why, yes! It was.. Miss Feathers!

"OM NOM NOM NOM!" she sounded very hungry.

"Miss Feathers, is that you?" I asked.

"Oh, hello Ajdin!" she chirped. "Excuse me for stuffing my face just now."

"Miss Feathers, it's been so long! Come inside and let's catch up!" I said.

It's been years since Miss Feathers has been on my blog, but she has been around this entire time. (Really need a new secretary).

Bird feeder

Hello everyone! Today, I'm going to make a window bird feeder with this kit my mom got from The Home Depot. She picked it up a couple of years ago (heh) and now I'm finally getting around to putting it together. Better late than never!

I will lay out the pieces flat.

And then I will start hammering away!

I'm excited to see what types of birds will come by this bird feeder!

There, it's done! I added suction hooks and now I just have to hang it on a window and fill it with some bird food.

I even got a pin for completing this craft kit!

And a certificate of completion! Let's hang this bird feeder and see who comes by.

Sad news

We have some sad news to share. Our beary good friend of 23 years, Sunny the cockatiel, passed away last week.

She was a beary smart bird, even helping me learn how to code computers.

This is me feeding Sunny some of her favorite foods, rice and corn!

This is Sunny playing with her favorite toy.

Sunny liked to take baths in the sink.

We will miss our friend Sunny beary much. She was such a beautiful bird and a great friend. Thank you Sunny, we will always love you.

Feathers flies

This morning, Miss Feathers was looking out the window.

I brought her some breakfast.

"Here you are, Miss Feathers," I said.  "Your favorite breakfast granola cereal.  Oh, and I added some honey to it."

"Thank you Ajdin.  You know, my wing has been feeling much better since I broke it several weeks ago.  Perhaps we can take off the bandage today."

After breakfast, I inspected her wing and used scissors to carefully cut off the bandage.

As soon as I took it off, she began flying around the room.

"Oh, I am much better now!" she chirped.

I decided to take Miss Feathers outside after she had been cooped inside all this time.  She flew onto high tree branches.

And low tree branches.

And shrubbery.

And more trees.  I could tell she was in beary good spirits.

The weather was beautiful and we even found this colorful pot of pansies to admire.  Spring is here at last!

A helping paw

I was having trouble finding someone to help for my Helping Paw badge.  It seemed like everyone was doing just fine.

So I decided to take a nap.  I should be hiBEARnating right now anyways.  *yawn*

"Help!" a voice chirped.

Wait, what was that sound?  Did you hear something?

"Please help!" it said again.

It sounded like it was coming from over here.

It was...

...a bird!

(Hey guys, how come you didn't tell me there was a bird behind me?)

"Hello," I said.  "Do you need help?"

"Yes!" she replied.  "My wing... I think it's broken.  A bird that can't fly... oh, I am done for!"

"Don't worry," I said.  "I am Bear Cub Scout Ajdin and I can help you."  I went to get my first aid kit.

"Now, if you will just hold still, I'll have you fixed up in no time," I said.

I took out some bandages and carefully tied them around her right wing.

"There," I said, helping her sit up.  "You'll need some time to heal but it should be better soon."

"But I cannot fly south!" she said.  "It is winter here and so cold.  I will surely freeze to death."

"You can stay with my friends and I," I offered.  "You can be our guest, Miss...?"

"Feathers.  My name is Feathers.  Thank you so much Ajdin.  You are a very kind bear."
