Star Trek: Phaser Testing

Captain's log, stardate 41254.7.3.298.38.11.00.33.something something.

Our ship, the USS Enterprise, is responding to a distress signal by an unknown vessel located in the outer edge of the Romulan Empire near Vadris III. If we were going warp speed, we would get there fairly quickly, but since Daaataaaa is at the helm, we are traveling at 5 miles per hour.

But like any good captain would do, I have decided to test our weapon systems in the meantime, in the event we encounter enemy fire.

It's time to test our phasers!

I haven't fired a shot with one of these things since I graduated from the Starfleet Academy. I'm sure I'll remember how to ---

KABOOM!

"Captain! Captain, are you alright?" It was Lieutenant Commander Tibbs, Chief of Security.

"Whoa... I think... THAT WAS AWESOME!!" I exclaimed.

"These phasers pack a punch! Look at that!"

"But perhaps just a little less firepower, Lieutenant?"

"Yes Captain!"

Fun stuff

Hey, I got some fun stuff to show ya!

My friend Au Fox from Indonesia recently sent me this cool cactus pen in the mail.

On the envelope, I noticed that he also has his own postage stamp. It looks like he is attempting to do a cartwheel or flip or some kind.

Next, I received a cool Stanley the Bear pen from my Aunt Joyce who recently went on a cruise. Did you know that Princess Cruises has a mascot named Stanley the Bear? He gets to travel all around the world going to exotic places!

Here's another picture of Stanley. Okay, I've gotta admit... I am just a tiny bit jealous of Stanley. He is a bear that knows how to live it up! I really must ask my mom to go on more trips.

I also received a postcard in the mail from a new hedgehog friend, Cindy Cheesecakestein. She recently went on vacation to Cape Cod - how lovely!

Colorado, part 2

Let's continue on our Colorado trip! Next, I went with my mom to Pike's Peak, which is a mountain in Colorado Springs that rises over 14,000 feet high!

Here is a Big Foot Xing sign. I didn't see him though.

We drove up the mountain and stopped many times to take photos. There is the summit in the background! We drove up to 12,000 feet and took a shuttle the rest of the way to the summit.

And here I am at the summit! 14,115 feet to be exact. I have never been up this high before (except when flying in an airplane).

It is SOOOO windy at the top here! Unghhh... I think I might fly away... AHH... somebody help me...

Oh phew, my mom is holding me here. She would be beary upset if I was blown away.

Not a bad view, eh? Though it is a little hard to breathe up here, and the snack supplies are running low, so I think we should go down.

We drove down Pike's Peak and then headed toward Aspen.

This mountain range behind me is known as the Collegiates because they are named after universities like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia.

It took us twice as long as expected to reach Aspen because we stopped to take so many pictures.

Now at this point, something terrible happened to our camera. It did not sync photos properly and the rest of the photos - particularly the ones with me in them - were deleted. (This is what happens when a stuffie is not in charge of things). It was beary upsetting, but I was able to salvage a few more photos from the trip.

Colorado!

A couple months ago (wow, I am really behind on posting) I went to Colorado with my mom. The first half of the trip was beary boring while she was at work, but I made up for it with lots of salmon and snacks from room service in a nice hotel room. But later, I got to go exploring in Denver and in the surrounding mountains!

I saw a huge blue bear looking in at the Denver Convention Center! He looks beary interested in what's going on inside.

Later, we took a drive up to Estes Park near the Rocky Mountain National Park. Behind me is Long's Peak, a mountain that is over 14,000 feet high!

Isn't it beautiful?

Okay, here's another picture. The scenery can change quickly over here up in the mountains so it feels like a different scene every few minutes.

A couple days later, we drove down south to Colorado Springs and visited the wonderful and amazing Garden of the Gods Park. These sandstone rock formations are HUGE.

Look at how beautiful they are! It looks like I am on a different planet.

This park is very popular for rock climbing. My mom really loves rock climbing and climbed to the top of one of the formations. Here is a picture she took from the top!

Poppy - Emotional Support Specialist

"Hi, I'm Poppy, and I volunteer as an Emotional Support Specialist in a homeless shelter.
I started with riding the Shelter Van for the Emergency Weather Response program, as my badge attests. We drove around town every cold winter night reaching out to homeless people and dropping them at shelters. My duties consisted in giving hugs and listening to sad stories. It was so moving! Then I graduated to dispensing support for an increasingly strained staff as well. Someone has to tell them that their contribution is valued and to keep up the good work! It's very sad and disturbing at times but I love it!"

A few days ago, I received a postcard in the mail from Sandy during his trip in London. Sandy is an international traveling bear, just as all stuffies should be! Thanks for the postcard
